Digna Sinke (Zonnemaire, 17 October 1949) is a Dutch movie and documentary director and producer.

Life
After graduating from high school, Digna Sinke attended the Dutch Film and Television Academy in Amsterdam. In 1972 she graduated from the academy with a short film called Groeten uit Zonnemaire (Greetings from Zonnemaire). [1] After that, she made her career in Dutch film by directing and producing numerous feature films and documentaries. Some of her movies, including De Stille Oceaan (The Silent Ocean), Boven de Bergen (Above the Mountains), Belle van Zuylen, Tiengemeten, Brossa and Atlantis, have been shown at various international film festivals. Her film Belle van Zuylen - Madame de Charrière won the Main Prize at the Mannheim-Heidelberg International Film Festival in 1994 and received Gouden Kalf (Dutch film prizes) nominations for Best Film, Best Director and Best Actress.[2] In 2001 she took over the film production company Studio Nieuwe Gronden (SNG Film) from her late husband René Scholten. With SNG Film she has produced up to thirty-five feature films, documentaries and film projects commissioned by organizations like the Dutch dance company Scapino ballet. [3]
Other projects
Digna Sinke has also been involved in several art projects. This started off with an exposition of some of her aquarelles in Galerie Mokum in Amsterdam in 1973. In 1979, she had two other expositions of her paintings, photos and travel stories in the Langhuis in Zwolle and Galerie Beeld en Aambeeld in Enschede. Furthermore, she was the co-author of the book “Kunst en Beweging” that was published in 1996, which is about the history of the Federatie van Kunstenaarsverenigingen (Dutch Federation of Artist Associations), and she directed the theatre production “Vrouwen van Picasso” (Women of Picasso) in 2004.[4] Next to producing films, Digna Sinke has also had some board positions. Since 1997 she has been vice-chairman of the Amsterdams Fonds voor de Kunst (Amsterdam Fund for Arts), member of the Raad voor de Kunst (Council for Art), chairman of the Federatie van Kunstenaarsverenigingen and board member of the Kunsten 92 (Arts 92). She is no longer involved in the boards of any of these organizations. In 1991 she helped found the DIFA (Dutch Documentary and Independent Film Association) and in 2000 she collaborated in the foundation of the Federatie Filmbelangen (Federation Film Interests). Both the DIFA and the Federatie Filmbelangen no longer exist.[5]
